Strip doors can be wall or header mounted. A header mounted unit fits within a door jam with universal galvanized hardware (or at times aluminum). Wall mounted has the strips mounted above the door. In choosing a strip door, overlap is very important. 33% for foot traffic and small temperature differentials may make sense, where 100% might be what you wish for forklift access and higher temperature differentials and windy conditions.
We provide standard smooth PVC strip material as well as ribbed. Ribbed vinyl strip doors do not scratch as easily as smooth, but some transparency is lost. Food service applications often require USDA approved strip door material, and A Plus Warehouse can help with that also.
You can choose strip thickness of .180 all the way to .250 inches. Again, choose the thickness by your application. A .250 inch thick strip door is too much for a person to walk through, but a forklift may do fine. We can even design a retractable strip door, so the entire door can be slid out of the way if there is occasional bursts of activity that require full access to your dock.
In extreme conditions, some customers use our strip doors in conjunction with one or more of our Mars air curtains. The concept is simple. The air curtain pushes a column of air at a slight angle from above the strip door. The air hits the ground at an angle and bounces off the ground. This provides an excellent thermal barrier with the strip material protecting against insects, and an additional thermal and wind barrier.
